🧾 Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
- 2 cups beef broth (or water)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 1 green bell pepper (chopped)
- 2 celery stalks (chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp oil (if needed)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½–1 tsp chili flakes or cayenne (adjust to taste)
- Salt & black pepper (to taste)
- 2 green onions (for garnish)
- Optional: soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce for extra depth
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Cook the rice
Rinse and cook the rice in broth (for extra flavor). Set aside. - Brown the beef
In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat if needed. - Sauté the veggies
Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic to the beef. Cook until soft and fragrant. - Season it up
Stir in paprika, thyme, oregano, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Add a splash of Worcestershire or soy sauce if using. - Combine with rice
Add the cooked rice to the pan and mix well so everything is evenly coated and slightly “dirty” in color. - Finish & serve
Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with chopped green onions.
💡 Tips:
- For authentic flavor, you can add finely chopped chicken livers (optional but traditional).
- Use smoked paprika for a deeper, smoky taste.
- A squeeze of lemon at the end can brighten the dish.
