Beef Pepper Stir-Fry with Onions
π§ Ingredients
- 300β400 g beef (sirloin or tender cuts), thinly sliced
- 1 large onion (sliced into wedges or strips)
- 1β2 green chilies (optional)
- 2 tbsp oil
Marinade
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper (freshly crushed = best flavor)
- 1 tsp cornflour (for tenderness)
- 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp garlic (minced)
Sauce Mix
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional but adds depth)
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2β3 tbsp water
π₯ Cooking Method
1. Marinate beef
Mix beef with marinade ingredients. Let it sit for 15β30 minutes (this keeps it tender and flavorful).
2. Sear the beef
- Heat oil in a wok or pan until very hot
- Stir-fry beef in batches (donβt overcrowd)
- Cook 2β3 minutes until browned but still juicy
- Remove and set aside
3. Cook onions
- In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed
- Toss in onions and green chilies
- Stir-fry 2β4 minutes until slightly soft but still crisp-sweet
4. Combine & season
- Add beef back into the pan
- Pour in sauce mix
- Sprinkle extra black pepper
- Toss everything on high heat for 1β2 minutes until glossy and coated
