Mashed Potato Croquettes are shaped potato mixtures that are coated and pan-fried or deep-fried until golden brown.
🧾 Ingredients
- 2 cups cold mashed potatoes
- 1 egg (plus 1 extra for coating, optional)
- ½ cup shredded cheese (optional)
- 2–3 tbsp chopped herbs (parsley, chives)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup breadcrumbs or flour (for coating)
- Oil for frying

👨🍳 Instructions
1. Make mixture
- Mix mashed potatoes, egg, seasoning, cheese, and herbs
- Stir until thick enough to shape
- If too soft, add a little flour or breadcrumbs
2. Shape
- Form into small patties or logs (croquette shape)
- Chill 10–15 minutes for better firmness (optional but helpful)
3. Coat
- Roll in flour or breadcrumbs
- For extra crunch: dip in beaten egg, then breadcrumbs again
4. Cook
Pan-fry (classic):
- Heat oil in a pan
- Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy
Air fryer (lighter):
- Spray lightly with oil
- Cook at 180°C (356°F) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway
